GarageBand 10.1 - new features

While the Apple Music launch has been attracting a lot of attention, Apple has also just put out a new version of GarageBand for Mac with features aimed at dance and hip-hop music-makers. These include new loops, patches and drum kits as well as the ability to share from GarageBand straight to Apple Music Connect via the iOS app.

EDM is the new Apple buzzword, and the GarageBand loop library has an additional 1,000 loops from a variety of instruments and genres, including “EDM, Hip Hop, Indie, Disco, Funk and Blues”.

GarageBand’s last version of Drummer was a big hit, and now it’s been expanded to include 10 new EDM and Hip Hop drummers, and 20 new electronic drum kits in addition to acoustic beats.

The update includes support for the new Force Touch, including the ability to activate commands and receive haptic feedback using a force click on the Mac trackpad.

The iOS version of GarageBand has been updated with bug fixes, and also to tie in with Apple Music Connect by giving you sharing capability directly from GarageBand via the app. The Mac version can’t share tracks with Apple Music Connect yet, but Apple says that feature is coming soon.
