Pussy Riot Freedom Compilation is a new album of great electronic tracks donated by members of female:pressure to raise money for the two imprisoned Pussy Riot members. As hopes mount that Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina will be released, the fundraising goes on to support them and their families.
Electric Indigo AKA Susanne Kirchmayr is behind the album, along with Antye, AKA AGF from Finland, Gudrun Gut from Germany, and many others. Susanne is an electronic composer, performer and DJ based in Vienna and founded female:pressure, an international database and support network of women in the fields of electronic music and digital art.
UK producer Caro C, who is also behind the Delia Derbyshire Day earlier this year, explained how the compilation came together.

Antye expressed her frustration and sadness at the situation in Russia for protesters such as Pussy Riot and Greenpeace and asked if we would like to do something in support of Pussy Riot.
Twenty of us said yes, and Glasgow based member Heidi Stewart made the first concrete actions. Four weeks and many many emails later we have an international compilation mastered by AGF and artwork by female:pressure members Heidi Stewart - Drawing, and Janina Schuetz - Graphic Design. Some tracks have included tech footnotes by the artist, giving insight into their working methods and kit they use.

The tracks range from ambient through to dance and the compilation is an amazing listen. The contributors’ statement says they are supporting and celebrating the imprisoned Pussy Riot members.
Across a variety of countries, these electronic music producers of female:pressure offer their music in solidarity with Pussy Riot calling for freedom for imprisoned Pussy Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina. We have heard that they may be set free, and hope that this effort increases exposure for their cause and celebrates their liberation.
All money raised from this compilation will be donated directly to the Voice Project who is managing the International Support Fund for Pussy Riot.

The Voice Project support fund helps with legal efforts to secure the freedom of the imprisoned members of the Pussy Riot and, to meet the security, care and support needs of Nadya (Nadezhda Tolokonnikova) and Masha (Maria Alyokhina) while they are incarcerated in the labor camps as well as care for their young children.
female:pressure consists of musicians, DJs, producers and performers, vocalists, composers, visual artists, booking agents, label owners, researchers and academics and has over 1300 members in 58 countries.
