Remix Snow Patrol Competition from Shure

How often do you get your hands on the stems of a track from a top-selling artist? Shure have launched a remix competition for the Snow Patrol track ‘Fallen Empires’ from their album of the same name. Turn them techno, acoustic, dubstep… anything goes. The isolated vocal and music stems are all being made available, and Snow Patrol will pick the winners, who get vouchers to spend on Shure kit.

Here’s what Snow Patrol say:

We are looking for people to create something new using the stems of ‘Fallen Empires’ and we won’t be favouring any particular style. Everyone will be judged on the same level, whether your entry transforms Fallen Empires into anything from an acoustic track to a techno track.

Snow Patrol are one of the biggest bands to come out of the British Isles in the last 15 years, with over 12 million albums sold to date. Their 2006 single Chasing Cars was, according to the UK music licensing organisation PPL, the most publicly broadcast song of the first decade of the 21st century. The band have also been users of Shure microphones for several years, using a whole range of Shure mics live and in the studio. They rely on Shure UHF-R wireless systems on live guitar and bass.

Shure Distribution’s UK Marketing Manager Paul Crognale says:

It’s a great honour to work with Snow Patrol on this competition. Not many artists make the isolated stems from one of their biggest tracks available to the general public like this. We look forward to what Europe’s finest up and coming engineers, producers and remixers can achieve creatively with the building blocks to ‘Fallen Empires’ this Autumn.

The prizes are 1500 Euros worth of Shure gear (1st prize), 1000 Euros worth of Shure gear (2nd prize), 500 Euros worth of Shure gear (3rd prize).

Here’s how it works:

  1. Register: at www.shure-remix-competition.eu, and get a download link

  2. Remix the track however you want, using, augmenting or omitting instruments and vocals as you wish.

  3. Submit via the competition website

Shure Europe will put together a shortlist of the best remixes, which will then be forwarded to Snow Patrol for them to pick the final winners.

The competition will be open from 1 October – 14 December.
