The VCS 4 is an extremely rare analogue synth from 1969. The model never went into full-scale production and there were just two prototypes. One was designed as a live performance version of the VCS 3, and made from two VCS 3s in a cabinet, with a keyboard, mixer and signal processing. The other (pictured) was more similar to the standard VCS 3. The model features the distinctive EMS matrix plugboard which uses pins instead of cables, for high and easy connectivity.
